I think technology used to be joyful.

VCRs you could open up and peer inside. A Nintendo cartridge you pushed up and down — that little metal bar sticking out the bottom you didn't understand but loved anyway. I was a curious kid and that stuff lit me up. I followed that curiosity my whole life. It's how I became an engineer — no plan, no goal, I just kept chasing whatever was fun.

Somewhere along the way, I started to hate a lot of technology.

My phone is a drug I've used too long. I've turned off every notification I can — and now I miss the important ones, and I still reach for it. It doesn't bring things to my life anymore. It holds me down. It's an obligation. I resent it.

And I'm tired of getting screwed.

The printer that's a "great deal" — until the ink costs as much as the printer, and runs out, and they won't even let you buy the cheap stuff. The app. The monthly payment. The company that's clearly trying to get money out of you somehow. It just feels that way all the time now.

Maybe you feel it too.

Maybe you've turned off every notification you can and still reach for the phone you resent. Maybe you're tired of being milked and managed by the stuff that was supposed to make your life better. If any of that lands — then this is for you too.

Someday a kid walks up and asks, "how did you make this?" I'll tell them everything. Then I'll ask what they want to make — what they want to see in the world — and I'll help them build it. If this sparks that light in even one person, and we get to make something together, I could do that for the rest of my life.
